The Marchant Team wants to invite you and your kids to a Visit with Santa! 

Christmas is truly a special event and now that Thanksgiving has come and gone (and I’m at least five pounds heavier!), it is time to start to focus on Christmas. 

Santa will be at our Keller Williams Office on Saturday December 12th!  He will sit with the kids from 10 to noon and there will be cookies and punch and other activities for the kids.

This is an annual event and Santa is always so kind to stop by for a few hours to see the kids who live and play in the Fishers area.

We ask that you bring a canned good for the local food pantry!

You can also see what is going on in the North Pole as Santa and his elves get ready to journey on Christmas Eve!  There are fun games to play and enjoy during December!  This is provided by NORAD (North America Aerospace Defense Command).

The Marchant Team also wants to encourage you to get out and help a less fortunate family this year.  This is the time of the year when families who have lost their jobs, developed an illness or experienced a tragedy need our support.  It is easy to get caught up in the hoopla of the gift giving, dinner party’s and holiday cheer but you will find a peace inside of you when you take the time to remember someone who needs a bit of help to get through a tough time.

Is it too early to give you information on the holiday events in Hamilton County??  The local radio station went to Christmas music this week so I figure it is okay to write a blog post before Thanksgiving on the events!

The tree lighting for Fishers is on Thursday, December 3rd from 6:30 to 8:00 in front of the Fishers Town Hall.  A visit with Santa, refreshments and music provided by Fishers High School and the Fishers Sister Cities’ Dickens Carolers.  Many residents in the Sunblest Farms area can walk to this event!

The tree lighting in Noblesville is November 27th from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Hamilton County Judicial Center in the heart of Noblesville.  You can enjoy the beautiful music and start off your Christmas holidays by bringing an unwrapped toy for the Noblesville Firefighters’ Toy Drive.

In addition the first Friday in December (the 4th) at the Noblesville Courthouse Square is the Holidays in Downtown Celebration.  Enjoy carolers, feast on roasted chestnuts, enjoy a carriage ride and warm up with free hot chocolate.  The shops will be open and there is word that Santa may be in town.

The Indianapolis Children’s Choir is performing their Angels Sing on December 18th & 19th at 8:00 at the St. Lukes Methodist Church at 100 W 86th Street.  They will also have their Celebrate the Season at 3:00 on the 19th with the voices from each ICC regional choirs.

And one other tidbit to put you in the spirit; if you haven’t tried out Pandora, take a moment to get acquainted.  You can type in any type of music or artist or song and Pandora will create a song list of music that is “like” what you selected.  Put in “Christmas Music” and enjoy!

While I love selling houses in Fishers all year round, I do want to take time in December (and maybe a bit in November!) to enjoy and absorb the holidays and what they mean and how lucky I am in so many ways!  I hope you take time too!

It’s October and time to give you my Top Halloween Spot pics!  From the hundreds of clicks on my Easter Egg Hunt post, I know many of you follow the blog to find out what’s happening in and around the Fishers area as well as staying up to date on the Fishers Real Estate market.  Just as an update, today there are 782 homes for sale in Fishers!

I think the Children’s Museum is one of the best places to take your kids anytime of year!  But at Halloween, they have the Tomb of Doom.  From October 16th through the 31st, kids can wear their costumes and explore the Egyptian labyrinth of fun including the Desert of Despair, Vile Nile and Pyramid of Peril as they search for the Lost Mummy!  There is a lights on version during the day for this event also.

The Indianapolis Zoo has their Halloween ZooBoo every weekend starting the 16th - Oct 30th.   The zoo stays open late with the animals on exhibit. There is a hay maze, monster music, pumpkin bowling, a haunted train ride and trick or treat stations. 

Something fun to do any time this fall is a visit to Tuttles Orchard where you can go on a hayride, weave your way through the four acre family friendly corn maze or pick your pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  You can also pick over 22 varieties of apples!

One of the most popular events for Fisher Home Owners is the Headless Horseman at Conner Prairie.  The cost is $9 or $13 depending on the day of the week you go.  There is storytelling, crafts, live music, and a nightly staging of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” complete with hayride.

The 37th annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival in Noblesville is a great choice and available during October.

The largest Haunted House is at Hanna’s Haunted Acres!

There is a Pumpkin Patch Festival from 10-1 at the Clarian North facility at 11700 N Meridian.  There will a bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, clowns and balloons for the kids.  Costumes are encouraged!

Curious about getting the $8,000 tax credit?  The first time homebuyer’s credit is set to expire on 11/30/09; which means you must close the transaction by that date.  As of 7/31/09 there are additional regulations that must be followed by the lender making a 30 days contract date to close date difficult at best to achieve.  There are time guidelines around appraisals, good faith estimates, etc.  That means that you should really be “under contract” by 10/15/09.

This Fishers Realtor® and several of her colleagues will be holding a FREE First Time Home Buying Class on Thursday, the 27th of August.  It will be from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at our Keller Williams office and you must register to attend at our Fishers Real Estate website. 

We will have a lender to discuss how much home you can afford, what a monthly payment looks like and how much you need to put down to buy and much more.

We will have a home inspector discuss what are common repair items that are found and how much do they cost to repair, who pays for the repairs and what might happen if you don’t make the repair.

I will be there to discuss the process of buying a home; how do you find a home that works for you, how much do you bid, how long does it take to close a home and other questions common to the process.

We will have a question and answer time as well, so bring us your questions.  And of course we will have snacks!

Homeowners in the Fishers and surrounding areas were treated to quite an event yesterday (8/1/09) at the Flavor of Fishers.  My Keller Williams Marchant Team and I worked selling food tickets and we were busy!   In addition we handed out over 500 chip clips, Big Red gum and of course, some reading materials to our visitors. 

The weather was beautiful and the crowds were huge.  There were several bands that played, Hotel California that played at 8:30 in a word was “smooth”.  The drummer’s voice was “spot on” for the Eagles’ sound and the guitar playing was excellent.  They played all of the hits from their era (and sadly mine!).  My husband and I even took a spin dancing to Best of My Love. 

While we sat on the lawn waiting for Hotel California, there were hundreds of kids running around. This little girl named Brooklynn caught our eye.  She was full of energy and cute as a button.  Her mom, Erin allowed us to post this picture of her!

If you missed the event this year, I hope you’ll put this blog on your RSS Feed so you don’t miss it next year.  Fishers Real Estate residents enjoy great schools, a very family oriented environment and some great events throughout the year.  There are still a few Saturdays in August for the Farmer’s Market.  Hope to see you out in Fishers, I’ll be the one with the red T-shirt that says “Worth the Read…My Fishers Blog”!

The Fishers Concert Series is enjoyed by so many Fishers residents.  Tonight, July 21st, was a great night with cool temperatures and a hot band called Living Proof.  They are a seven piece R & B band that has been named Indy’s Best Cover Band by Indianapolis Monthly.   They have dynamite vocals along with trumpet, saxophone, keyboards, guitar and drums.  They definitely were creating some happy feet!

If you missed them tonight; be sure to check out where Living Proof will be next.

Tonight there were hundreds of people enjoying the music while the kids played and danced at the Municipal Center in Fishers.  Next week, the Dave and Rae show that was rained out will be playing.  They are Pop/Rock and their play list includes music from the 70’s through today.  Be sure to bring a canned good to this concert on the 28th of July.

Don’t forget to visit the Municipal Center each Saturday morning this summer for the Fishers Farmer’s Market.  The fruits and vegetables support our local farmers.  Another of my favorite stands at the Farmer’s Market is the green products offered by Tracey Clean. 

It is no surprise why so many individuals and family search for their homes in the Fishers Real Estate area.  There are so many great events and great neighborhoods in Fishers.  Tonight was certainly a testimony to one of the great events Fishers has for its residents!

This Fishers Real Estate Blog often covers neighborhoods and market reports, but I like to highlight events too.  Flavor of Fishers will be here on August 1st from noon until 10:00 p.m. at the USA Parkway Circle.  You can only enter from 106th street this year.

This is a great event for residents in Fishers and surrounding areas.  There will be over 30 restaurants including some of my favorites like Scotty’s Brewhouse and Flemings Steak house.  (My husband and I eat at Flemings on every anniversary and I think it has the best steak in the city!)  There will also be a wine garden.

The entertainment list this year is awesome, with Hotel California playing from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m.  I don’t want to necessarily reveal my age, but I am a huge Eagles fan!  For the smaller people (under the age of 12 is FREE), there is a family fun zone.

Tickets are $5.00 and can be bought at Marsh or the Chamber or at the event for $7.00.  Food tickets are available and most food items are from $1.00 to $5.00.  There is always more to know, so be sure to visit the FAQ.

Residents who live in or near the Fishers Real Estate market will have a delightful and fun event this weekend; the Fishers Freedom Festival is June 27th and 28th.  The essence of the Fishers Freedom Festival is to encourage community involvement by bringing all ages together in a safe environment and creating various opportunites for families to interact together in a fun and spirited way.

There is a 5K/2 Mile walk that begins at 8:00 on the 27th. The two mile family fun walk will begin at 8:05 a.m.  Participants will take a scenic route through Fishers’ neighborhoods, accompanied with water stations that are sponsored by Aqua Systems.   Residents who live along the route are encouraged to have hoses and water available.    

The parade will have Samantha Peszek as the Grand Marshal.  The parade will step off at 4:00 on the 28th at Lantern Road and 116th Street, proceed west on 116th Street to Holland Drive, north to the park entrance where it will disband at Ellipse Parkway and Holland Drive.  This is a fun event for all.

One of the best events is back again this year, the corn hole tournament!  It will be on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Babe Ruth Diamond, just west of the Park Building.

Owning a home in Fishers has many benefits; one is all there is to do!

The Fishers Freedom Festival is on June 27th and 28th. There will be entertainment, food, and a parade among other great things to do.

Symphony on the Prairie up at Conner Prairie at Allisonville and 136th begins on June 20th with the Grateful Dead!  I’m planning on being there for the Music of Harry Potter on the 26th and 27th of June and also for an evening with America on Thursday, September 3rd and Friday the 4th.  This is always a great time to meet up with friends and the community.  Be sure to look for me at the Symphony on the Prairie!

Visit the Fishers Farmers Market weekly for fresh offerings of locally grown vegetables, season fruits, perennials, annuals, cut flowers, specialty items such as honey, salsa, jams, meats, wine, doggie treats and delicious baked items.  Shoppers will enjoy a selections of fine, hand crafted items including purses, candles, soap, and jewelry, and a unique special event each month!

Enjoy great music at the Fishers Family Concert series and fun times with the whole family… bring a picnic and watch what happens!  It is on Tuesday nights from 7-9 p.m. on the lawn in front of Fishers Town Hall at 1 Muncipal Drive.

I have written many posts on Fishers Real Estate, Fishers Neighborhoods, Appreciation Rates in Fishers with Market Reports, Hot Spots and Events in Fishers, Indiana.  But, in celebration of my 100th post, I want to take time to talk about Keller Williams and RED Day.  This stands for Renew, Energize and Donate.  It is the hope of Keller Williams that together, we can make a difference!

On May 14th all across the country, Keller Williams associates (nearly 75,000) will be giving back to their communities.  In the Indianapolis area, the four KW offices with over 200 agents are focusing on the parks in the area.  We will be landscaping, picking up trash, painting play area equipment and hoping to beautify the areas the children of our community play in each day.  The Fishers Real Estate office will be focused in Hamilton County. 

This giving back to the community is in honor of Mo Anderson.  While she has held many leadership positions within Keller Williams, her current focus is cultivating the culture for Keller Williams.  She founded the KW Cares in 2003 to help company associates and their families in need.  KW Cares gave millions to Hurricane Katrina victims.   

Offices in other areas of the country are doing great things.  The Keller Williams in Lake Norman, North Carolina are collecting gently used clothing and allowing people in need to shop at the Keller Williams Closet!  The Keller Williams in Boise, Idaho are loading backpacks with essential items for children in need.  My friend Missy Caulk in Ann Arbor talks about a food drive they are doing on RED Day!
