What to do on New Years Eve in Fishers
Posted by marchantteam under Fisher Events, For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Happenings, Hot Spots
What do Fishers Real Estate and New Years Eve entertainment have in common? Today they have this blog post in common! Hopefully something from this list will be your choice for celebrating 2011!
Oak Hill Manion with an elegant dinner/champagne and dancing to Five Easy Pieces; cost is $75.00 a person.
Living Proof will be at the Hilton Garden Inn just off of 96th Street (9775 North by Northeast Blvd; their phone number is 578-0700). The cost is $275/a couple. Living Proof performs all over the Indy area.
Closer to Geist at Bella Vita‘s, the Bishops will be performing; cost is $100/couple. Rumor is they will be giving a $100 bills away throughout the evening! Also The Grill will be hosting the Aberdeen Project from 9-1:30 with party favors and free champagne. Filet and Lobster for $24.99 and no cover!
Something more for the whole family…try Pinheads and Glow Bowl! Beginning at 5:00 p.m. on the 31st for $15.00 a person for unlimited bowling and shoes! Pinheads is located at 13825 Britton Park Road.
Another family event is downtown at the Children’s Museum. It is the Countdown to Noon from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. This is probably more my speed for sure…it would allow me to celebrate the countdown at a reasonable hour! You can meet the characters from Oz and even stay to see the show.
Wherever New Years Eve takes you, be safe and have fun!

Christmas Downtown Indianapolis
Posted by marchantteam under For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Happenings, Hot Spots
Many of you will travel downtown over the next few days; so wanted to share some information about the Indianapolis Soldiers and Sailors Monument.
It has been decorated and lit up annually since 1962 and uses 5,000 lights and 52 strands of garland. More than 100,000 people attend the event; held the day after Thanksgiving every year.
The Indianapolis Soldiers and Sailors Monument stands just shy of 285 feet, which is just about 21 feet shorter than the Statue of Liberty.
Couple of fun facts are it took 12 years to complete and in today’s dollars would cost $500,000,000; there is an observation deck that can be reached by stairs (331 of them) for free or by elevator for $2.00; there is a box hidden in the cornerstone that contains a list of Indiana soldiers who fought during the Civil War.
It is at the center of town; the city of Indianapolis is set up in a grid so 6 blocks east of Monument Circle is East Street where Mass Ave (electic shopping) is; 6 blocks west is West Street (Minor league baseball field, Zoo, White River State Park); etc. So the city of Indy is basically a 12 x 12 block area. It makes navigating downtown really easy.
Your Fishers Real Estate agent will probably take a few days off over the holidays (in fact she has already started!) so stayed tuned. As of December 20th there are 776 homes for sale in Fishers, 107 of those are condo’s. If you see something interesting, just sent me a quick email; I’m always ready to help you!

Things to do in Fishers for the Holidays
Posted by marchantteam under Fisher Events, For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Happenings, Hot Spots
During the fourth quarter, selling homes in Fishers slows down, but the activities and events pick up! I recently covered the specifics of Trick or Treating events so today I am going to focus on a few other great things to do in Fishers.
The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow only has one weekend left to take advantage of this, the 28-30th.
For those that don’t know the story of the Headless Horseman, it goes something like this. Long ago there was supposedly a soldier from the Revoluntionary War who was decapitated by a cannonball and now roams Fishers Sleepy Hollow on a horse. Supposedly he cannot cross bridges, maybe he is ghost because they can’t cross them either. It was this tale that a gentleman scared Ichabod Crane with so that he would lose “the girl” in the story of Sleepy Hollow.
Hours for this event are 6-9 p.m. but many events last until 10:00 p.m. Hayride tickets are on a first come, first serve basis.
Other activities include the Scary-o-kee and other glow in the dark activities. There is pumpkin carving, balloon voyage (tethered hot air balloons), storytelling by lantern lights, face painting, crafts and movies too.
Next, let’s be sure to cover the Drumstick Dash (while not in Fishers, it’s an easy ride into Broad Ripple):
It is always held on Thanksgiving morning and there is so much energy at 7:00 a.m., it definitely gets you in the mood for the holidays. So for 2010 it will be on Thursday, November 25th. Last year there were over 9,000 people there!
Volunteers typically need to be there by 7:00 to have breakfast and get their T-shirts and instructions. The race actually begins at 9:00 in Broad Ripple. It is a 4.5 mile race and there is also a 2.6 mile fun run course for those of us no longer able to do longer distances. There are great snacks there after the race too!
Can you believe the Polar Bear Express is almost sold out?
Since 1995, the Polar Bear Express in Fishers has been making children and adults BELIEVE. The train ride begins at the Fishers Train Station where a Christmas story is told. The daytime trips (9:45AM, 11:00AM, 1:30PM and 2:45PM) will ride from Fishers to Noblesville and back to Fishers. Santa Claus will be on the train to visit with the children. Cookies are offered on this trip.
The evening trips (which are just about sold out) are at 4:00PM, 5:45PM and 7:30PM, they will travel through Noblesville square and the North Pole located at the Indiana Transportation Museum. Santa AND Mrs. Clause will be on that train as well as the Polar Bear himself.
There are treat bags given to the children on all excursions.
You will need to set up your reservations as soon as possible, only one evening slot is available as of today, October 26th, 2010.
The last event is the Gingerbread Festival up at Conner Prairie.
It is a delighful experience to go and see all the Gingerbread houses, towns, and close to skyscrapers that are displayed!
If you are interested in competing, all entry forms are due by Friday, November 5th with a non refundabl entry fee of $15.00. There are various age categories for judging from (9-12 yr old) to (18 and up). There will also be awards for the People’s Choice, Most Traditional, Most Creative, etc. Cash prizes are awarded! They must be bigger than 9″ x 9″ and smaller than 24″ x 24″.
Gingerbread houses are due to Conner Prairie by November 19th.
The event for viewing begins on December 1st and runs all the way through Christmas and ends on January 3rd 2011. You’ll have plenty of time to schedule your trip! They are open Tues-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Relocating to Indianapolis
Posted by marchantteam under Buyer Information, For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Hot Spots
I have written a post specific to Relocating to Fishers a few weeks ago and it caused me to think about doing a video. I decided the first video would be about Indianapolis because often a company will relocate people to work downtown but they will live and play in surrounding communities like Fishers.
I work with relocating individuals frequently (partly as a result of this blog!) and also my affilaition with area hospitals and medical company’s. I have heard recently that we don’t advertise our tourism enough; that there is a great deal to do and see in the Indy area!
Those people are right! So, here is the video; let me know what you think!
Because this is a Fishers Real Estate blog, I do want to mention there are currently 772 homes for sale in Fishers and 114 condo’s for sale in Fishers.

Spring Time in Fishers mean Lots to Do
Posted by marchantteam under Fisher Events, For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Happenings, Hot Spots
Saxony Market opens today! It is located at 131st and Olio in Fishers; open 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be live music by Special Purpose and Phillip Steven & The Open Road. There will also be a bounce house for the kids.
The Fishers weekly Farmer’s Market starts June 5th and will run through September 25th from 8:00 to noon each Saturday. There are farmer’s markets all over town and you will find some of the best fruits and vegetables there!
One of the great things about living in Fishers is the community events, one of those is the Summer Concert Series. It is every Tuesday night from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the lawn at the Municipal Center. The June 1st line up has Living Proof opening; they are a great band.
Symphony on the Prairie up at Conner Prairie is one of my most favorite events during the summer. Their season opens on June 19th with some Tchaikovsky. The John Denver Songbook is July 9th. Be sure to say “hi” to me if you are there; I always sit to the right (North) of the stage! You will love being at Symphony on the Prairie, be sure to bring food, wine and a blanket.
The Flavor of Fishers is July 31st from noon to 10:00 p.m. All the local restaurants will be there along with some great music. It is truly an event you won’t want to miss!
That should get you started!
As an update on the Fishers Real Estate market, there are currently 778 active homes on the market in Fishers. There are 257 homes under contract which is great news. Homes for sale in Fishers are still selling and with all the events I just mentioned, you can see why. It is a great place to call home!

Relocating to Fishers Indiana
Posted by marchantteam under Buyer Information, For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Hot Spots, Tips and Random Thoughts
I have been so busy with people relocating to the Fishers area; it reminds me to be thankful we have such a great community to share with others.
I have many doctors, professors and even one couple that wants to move here from New York because they have read so much about Fishers, Indiana. This couple is selling their home in New York and moving here to find jobs and buy the home of their dreams. I took them on a tour this past Saturday.
We definitely looked at some homes for sale in Fishers, but also I took them by Conner Prairie and told them about the school field trips and that the Indianapolis Symphony plays outside during the summer and people bring picnic baskets and wine and enjoy the music. I also took them through downtown and talked about the Fair train and the Tuesday concerts in the park and of course told them about the Nickel Plate.
I showed them Hamilton Town Center and all the new construction on that side of town. We visited the Beazer, Pulte and Ryland communities. She is a teacher, so showed them many of the great schools we have in Fishers in that area.
Selling Fishers Real Estate has been like giving candy to kids lately; it sells itself. There are so many great neighborhoods in Fishers that picking one is often more the dilemma. As the local Fishers Realtor, I can help people discern the right location and home for them! I love giving tours and also have a nice relocation binder to help new people to our area become familiar; just ask me for one!

Visit and Cookies with Santa in Fishers
Posted by marchantteam under Fisher Events, For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Happenings, Hot Spots
Click this for the 2010 Santa and Tree Lighting times
The Marchant Team wants to invite you and your kids to a Visit with Santa!
Christmas is truly a special event and now that Thanksgiving has come and gone (and I’m at least five pounds heavier!), it is time to start to focus on Christmas.
Santa will be at our Keller Williams Office on Saturday December 12th! He will sit with the kids from 10 to noon and there will be cookies and punch and other activities for the kids.
This is an annual event and Santa is always so kind to stop by for a few hours to see the kids who live and play in the Fishers area.
We ask that you bring a canned good for the local food pantry!
You can also see what is going on in the North Pole as Santa and his elves get ready to journey on Christmas Eve! There are fun games to play and enjoy during December! This is provided by NORAD (North America Aerospace Defense Command).
The Marchant Team also wants to encourage you to get out and help a less fortunate family this year. This is the time of the year when families who have lost their jobs, developed an illness or experienced a tragedy need our support. It is easy to get caught up in the hoopla of the gift giving, dinner party’s and holiday cheer but you will find a peace inside of you when you take the time to remember someone who needs a bit of help to get through a tough time.
We know of families like this, if you would like to help we can share their information with you.

Fishers Hair Salon Gives Back to Community
Posted by marchantteam under For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Happenings, Hot Spots
I write about Fishers Real Estate all the time, but I think it is also important to highlight local businesses and events in Fishers. I am not only a Realtor ® in Fishers, I am part of your community. Here is one about a local business worth reading!
Local hair salon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is giving back to the community!
We know the unemployment rate is higher than ever. In fact, the unemployment rate in Indiana reached almost 10% in February of 2009. Hoosiers are trying to find work! This hair salon wants to reach out and give a boost to the Indianapolis area in the best way they know how; cutting hair and building confidence.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang knows how important your personal appearance is during your interviewing process. They are offering free haircuts on April 26th from 11:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m.
They are located at 8395 East 116th Street in Fishers and their phone number is 915-0100. You will be asked to present you proof of unemployment at the time services are rendered.

Fishers Real Estate – Hamilton Town Center Shopping
Posted by marchantteam under Fishers, For Buyers, For Sellers, Hot Spots, Regional News
Christmas at the Hamilton Town Center information is available here!
Hamilton Town Center provides a great boost for both Noblesville and Fishers Real Estate residents! If you haven’t been by SR238 and Olio/146th and Olio or Exit 10 off of I69 to check out the new 950,000 sq ft open air village mall; you should plan a trip there. I use the word village because it has that look and feel with its lamp posts, clock towers and brownstone exteriors. At a cost of about $126 million this mall has some of the best retail, restaurants and entertainment on the northeast side of Indy. Shops include Borders, Steinmart, Dicks with JC Penney’s and Bed, Bath and Beyond as the Anchors. Restaurants include Paradise Cafe, Noodles, Mo’s Irish Pub and the ever famous Five Guys. Also at the Hamilton Center is the 16 screen IMAX movie theatre.
This center makes the Noblesville and Fishers Real Estate area more desirable and helps the city’s economy. It is estimated to have created about 4,000 jobs. It was developed by Indianapolis based Simon Property Group and Gershman Brown Crowley, Inc. Simon Property is an S&P 500 company and the largest publick U.S. real estate company, owning or having an interest in 382 properties that span 260 million sq ft. Gershman Brown Crowley is also headquartered in Indianapolis, and is a multi-purpose real estate development Company with a proven success record in acquisition, construction, and property and project management.
So, before the weather gets too chilly, take a ride out to the Fishers/Noblesville area and do some early Christmas shopping, take in a movie and try one of the great restaurants at the mall. In addition to Hamilton Town Center, there are many other great hot spots surrounding the Fishers Real Estate market.
